Dosage and AdministrationThe recommended dose of Zovirax Cream 5% Gel is 2.5 mg (0.5 grams) 1 hour before administration with food.
Precautions and Interactions
Do not use Zovirax Cream 5% Gel if you are allergic to it, have systemic lupus erythematosus, or any of its ingredients. Do not use in children under 2 years of age, or in patients with a history of hemophilia or systemic lupus erythematosus. Paediatric patients 2 years and older: Do not use in patients with weight-bearing limitations (e.g., small children) or a history of reactions with other ingredients in the product. Children under 2 years of age: Do not use in patients under 2 years of age. Patients with a known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of Zovirax Cream 5% Gel.
It is very important that the doctor does not modify the dose by itself without the involvement of the patient. In case of accidental contact with the cream or use of the cream with other drugs, it is very important to correct the dose accordingly. Dose modification is the modification of the dose with the aim of reducing the adverse reactions, and not the dose with the aim of increasing the efficacy. The following precautions are necessary for the use of Zovirax Cream 5% Gel:• Use it under strict medical supervision, including if you are pregnant or breastfeeding• Follow the doctor's instructions or your prescription is only for the duration of the therapy.• The use of Zovirax Cream 5% Gel should be accompanied by your prescription and the instructions for use.• If the cream is used with other drugs, your doctor must be consulted, so you must not discontinue the drug without consulting the doctor.• Tell the doctor any history of drug reaction with the cream, including if you are taking any antifungal medication, or if you have been told you have an allergy to any of its ingredients.• If the cream is used during the third or fourth trimesters, the cream must be discontinued immediately.• Zovirax Cream 5% Gel should not be used in the absence of any justification for its use, unless it is clearly needed.• If you are allergic to it, or have ever had an allergic reaction to it, or have used other creams or gels to apply to the lips, skin, or mucous membranes, you should consult the doctor or pharmacist before using this product.• Avoid using Zovirax Cream 5% Gel in children under 2 years of age as the medication is very harmful to the unborn baby.• If you are of Asian descent, this product may contain an Asian ingredient.• If you are taking any other medications, including non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), Zovirax Cream 5% Gel should be avoided unless your doctor explicitly tells you to (see warnings), as it may be harmful to your kidney or liver.• Avoid using Zovirax Cream 5% Gel in children under 2 years of age, as the medication is very harmful to the unborn baby.• If you are a woman, the usual recommended dosage is 2 Cream 5% Gel, and if you are of Asian descent (e.g., Australian, American, German, or French people) Zovirax Cream 5% Gel should be avoided.
